|
Founded in 2009, the FC Philadelphia is an amateur men’s soccer team which will begin play in 2011 as a member of the National Premier Soccer League(NPSL).
The NPSL is a national league with a regional focus. This highly competitive league helps all teams gain access to elite players to fill their team roster, including but not limited to National Team, former and current University and College, foreign, amateur, former professional and youth players. All current NCAA players are able to play soccer at an elite level, while incoming NCAA players can impress college scouts and coaches alike. The NPSL is sanctioned by the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) as an affiliate of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF), the ruling body for soccer in the United States and FIFA the world’s ruling body for soccer. The NPSL is a professionally operated league at large and consists solely of professionally operated teams. Teams comprised of players holding amateur playing status (high school, college and former professionals) all on the same field at one time. Players maintain college eligibility and play at an elite level with a mix of young and veteran players. This league serves as a showcase for players to college and professional coaches to help move onto the next level.
