SOUTH JERSEY UNITED FC WOMEN Amateur Level

Founded in 2009, the South Jersey United FC Women is an amateur women’s soccer team. During 2010, the United begins play within the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) and will also field a Under-20 reserve team which will compete in the Youth Premier Soccer League (YPSL). South Jersey United FC and YSA have contractual arrangements whereby YSA is the sole provider of services related to the coaching, management and operation of both teams. YSA senior staff member Nick Juengert has been named as the Head Coach of the WPSL team and YSA senior staff member Socrates Nicolaidis has been named as the Head Coach of the U-20 reserve team. The WPSL is an independent national league whose main focus is the development of highly competitive amateur women's soccer teams. The League makes every effort to bring quality soccer to all levels of the community and to promote the stature of female athletes as role models for our youth. Formed in 1998, the WPSL is sanctioned by the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) as an affiliate of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF), the ruling body of soccer in the United States and FIFA the world's ruling body for soccer. To date over 80 former or current WPSL players were on Women’s teams or International National teams. Examples include: Julie Foudy, Abby Wambach, Shannon Boxx, Brandi Chastain, Kristine Lilly, Joy Fawcett, LaKeysia Beene, Kylie Bivens, Leslie Osbourne, Shannon MacMillan, Keri Sanchez, Sissi, Jennifer Molina, Monica Gonzalez, Nozumi Yamago and Tisha Venturini.
